Galatasaray claimed a huge 4–2 victory over Lille in a six-goal Champions League thriller, with Victor Osimhen getting on the scoresheet in a memorable night for the Turkish side.
Galatasaray made a dream start when Yunus Akgün scored in the second minute, but Lille responded quickly through Soriba Diaoune, who levelled the match in the seventh minute.
Diaoune struck again in the 39th minute to put Lille ahead, sending the home supporters into celebration. However, Galatasaray refused to back down, and Aleksey Batrakov equalised in the 44th minute to make it 2–2 before half-time.
The second half brought more drama. An own goal from Nabil Bentaleb put Galatasaray back in front in the 52nd minute before Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen added another goal in the 61st minute to extend the visitors’ advantage.
Lille tried to fight their way back into the contest, but Galatasaray held on to secure an impressive away victory.
For Galatasaray, the result offers a major boost after their difficult start to the Champions League campaign. For Lille, conceding four goals at home will be a bitter disappointment despite Diaoune’s excellent brace.
