Liverpool’s winning run in the Champions League came to a painful end after Fenerbahçe produced a dramatic 3–2 victory in Istanbul.
The Reds took the lead in the 25th minute through Trey Nyoni, whose volley took a deflection before beating Ederson.
Fenerbahçe responded almost immediately. Mason Greenwood’s free kick took a deflection off the defensive wall and found its way past Alisson to make it 1–1.
Liverpool regained the advantage in the 69th minute when Alexander Isak headed home after excellent work from Cody Gakpo.
But Fenerbahçe refused to surrender. Archie Brown helped set up the equaliser, with Gakpo’s defensive header falling into his path before he tapped into an empty net.
Then came the decisive moment. Vedat Muriqi rose above the Liverpool defence in the 79th minute and powered home a header to complete a stunning comeback.
Liverpool leave Istanbul empty handed, while Fenerbahçe celebrate a massive European victory.
FINAL SCORE: FENERBAHÇE 3–2 LIVERPOOL.
