From boos at half time to celebrations at the final whistle! Manchester United produced an incredible comeback to defeat AS Roma 3–2 at Old Trafford.
Roma looked firmly in control after Matías Soulé opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Donyell Malen converted a penalty in the 18th minute to give the visitors a commanding 2–0 lead at the break.
But Manchester United returned with a completely different mentality.
Bruno Fernandes gave the hosts hope by converting a retaken penalty in the 58th minute.
Then came the Matheus Cunha show!
The Brazilian levelled the score in the 83rd minute after capitalising on a defensive error. Just three minutes later, he struck again with a brilliant finish to complete the turnaround and send Old Trafford into celebration.
However, the drama was not over. Cunha received a second yellow card in stoppage time and was sent off, leaving United to protect their precious lead with ten men.
They held on to secure a memorable 3–2 victory and end their nine-game winless run.
For Michael Carrick, this could prove to be a massive result at a crucial moment.
FINAL SCORE: MANCHESTER UNITED 3–2 AS ROMA.
Matheus Cunha went from hero to villain in a matter of minutes! What a night at Old Trafford.
